Let Us Evaluate Your Manuscript
/Your manuscript is done. Months, if not years, of writing has come to an end. It is an incredibly exciting feeling (and you should celebrate!), but with finishing writing comes the looming question: what happens next?
Some writers say that writing is the hardest part; everything beyond that is tweaking the manuscript and working on getting it out into the world. Other people say writing is the easiest part and diving into a comprehensive edit and beyond is overwhelming.
Do you dive right into editing? Does it just need a copy edit, or does it need more? Do you find beta readers? Do you pursue self-publishing? Is it ready to be self-published? Should you begin looking for an agent?
Before we can answer any of these questions, Inspira offers a Manuscript Evaluation. With this service we provide, as the title suggests, an evaluation of your manuscript. We let you know where your manuscript is as far as quality of writing and “publishability"—along with an assessment of what it needs to bring it up to high-quality publishing standards.
Our team will also do a sample edit of a portion of your manuscript, as a sample of how some of the writing mechanics of your work will need to be addressed in order to refine your manuscript for publication. After you have a chance to review the written evaluation, you will also receive a phone or Zoom consultation to go over the evaluation and assessment with you personally.
With an evaluation, we can advise you on how much editing your manuscript needs and the next steps to take to get your manuscript published. We will also provide a proposal for the cost for our team to edit (and design/layout) your book, and prepare it for publication. Depending on the scope of our development contract, the price of your evaluation may be partially or fully credited toward development costs if you decide to develop your manuscript with us.
Whether you go all the way with Inspira, and we hope you do, we recommend a manuscript evaluation for anyone who has a finished manuscript. Celebrate all the words you have written by getting professional advice on what to do next!
